“Girlhood”, is a campaign to fight sex trafficking produced and shot by Gannet Creative House for the SHERO Foundation (SHEROfoundation.org) from agency partner Duncan Channon in partnership with Advertising Week and Kevin Bacon’s SixDegrees.org as part of the inaugural Purpose, Produced initiative.
The work shows girlhood as something vivid and powerful, and reminds us how sex trafficking strips away a girl’s safety, agency, and possibility — relying on what people imagine. Girlhood seeks to restore power to those who may be targets and to the people in their lives who want to protect them.
The campaign lived across :30 TV spots, digital, out-of-home, and more.
We were so grateful to collaborate on work that treats a heavy subject with thoughtfulness, beauty, and respect — and proud to have shot this campaign in our hometown of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. This project came to life through the generosity of our community: local restaurants donating food, girls and their parents sharing their time and talent, community members opening their locations, and our incredibly talented team who donated their energy, care, and craft.
